New Life Children's Center is an
affiliated program of Lutheran Social Services.

 

New Life Volunteer Opportunities

Academic Tutors: These volunteers help residents who could use extra help in developing reading skills, math and in preparing for a GED.

Angels: On the fourth Friday of each month, this group of volunteers work with residents on arts and crafts or play games.

Ambassadors: Represent/speak about New Life to organizations and businesses.

Bible Study: Lead a Bible study group.

Birthday Cake Bakers: Provide a birthday cake on a child's birthday.

Chapel Service: Volunteer pastors rotate conducting chapel service each Thursday.

Clothes Closet: Help keep the clothing donations organized.

Garden Angels: Needed - One or more volunteers who are willing to teach staff members about managing a greenhouse. In turn, staff will teach interested residents.

Life Skills Talent Team: Volunteers help residents learn cooking, quilting, sewing and other useful skills.

Prayer Pals: Each resident is assigned an annonymous prayer pal who, in addition to praying for the resident, provides a greeting card on special occassions to the designated resident.

Stephen Ministers: Lay ministers serve as mentors to children who wish to enrich their spiritual lives.

Women in Business: This group provides a home-cooked meal and "treats" each second Tuesday of the month.
